Classic Hot Wheels From Mattel

Classic-Hot-WheelsOne of the great classic collectible toys is Mattel’s Hot Wheels. Car lovers and classic toy collectors love Hot Wheels for the true-to-life designs, based on real cars and vibrantly painted.

Mattel’s Hot Wheels Introduction

In 1968, Mattel introduced it’s miniature toy cars with 16 models. These original cars are called the Sweet 16 by collectors and are of great value today. The cars included some of the most popular autos of the time including the Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, T-Bird, and a Volkswagen. The scale of the original 16 was 1:64 so these really were miniatures.

Some Favorites to Chose From

Collecting Hot Wheels toy cars has become one of those popular choices for many. Before you start your collection, take a look at the book I featured first. You need to understand the value of the miniature cars and make sure you aren’t paying too much. But, I have found a couple of great classics here. When the Batmobile first came out, I was probably the first in line to get it.

Investment or Fun

My toy collections are not for an investment. Mine are entirely for fun. But you may prefer to collect toys for the investment value of reselling them later. In that case, do your homework about values and potential. Any kind of investment brings a risk. So understand your risk. Or simply collect Hot Wheels because you remember playing with them as a child and still appreciate their quality.

Value for Your Money

Many Hot Wheels cars are available on the market today. Some are remakes of the originals which come with a much less expensive price tag. But you can also find those classics that are expensive. Depending on your reason for collecting will determine how much you pay and what value you get for your money.

Many Hot Wheels Available

Of course, there are many of these little cars available. Take a look at Mattel Hot Wheels Toy Cars to see plenty more. Some are the 1:64 scale of the earliest makes, but others are the 1:43 scale that Mattel later made. Again that choice is yours as to your collecting reasons.

I remember playing Hot Wheels with my brother! He had quite the collection and we would play for hours. My nephews are now playing and collecting Hot Wheels. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
