Matchbox Die Cast Cars

Matchbox CarsMatchbox Die Cast Cars were introduced to the world in the early 50’s by Lesley Products, a British manufacturing company. Ownership of the Matchbox brand changed several time over the decades, but were subsequently sold to their greatest competitor Mattel, who still currently owns Matchbox cars and products.

The name “Matchbox” was selected simply due to the cars size. The original packaging was created and manufactured to resemble a matchbox.

The Matchbox cars were designed to perfectly replicate the real cars. The little cars have accurate shape and details, despite their much smaller size. I actually remember adults who wanted a Matchbox Car version of their automobile as gifts or decorating their birthday cakes, which was, and is, an excellent alternate use of the little cars.

The sturdy die cast cars were, and still are an instant hit with children! The economical price allows children to own dozens of these little cars and they quickly become treasured collections to their owners. I dare say, there are many older men who still treasure their childhood Matchbox car collections.

Every child, and many adults, dreams of one day owning a real sports car.

Imagine how much fun it would be to drive a different sports car each day! With this package of 5 Matchbox cars, a child can choose a Corvette, a Lotus or even a Lamborghini, which would be my sons favorite sports car.

In the 2013 collection featured below, a child could opt for the Porsche or Cobra.

Either Matchbox Exotic Sports Car collection would be awesome!

The Matchbox sports car collections are sure to be any child’s favorite.

It would be fun to race the Lamborghini against the Cobra to see which one really is the fastest.

Many of us have a preference in cars due to color. With both the 2013 and the 2014 Matchbox Exotic car collections, there would truly be a great variety of colors too.

Each collection also includes a convertible, which would be my first choice.

While the sports car may well be the first choice, the best way to start a Matchbox car collection would be with the large assortment collection box.

These collections are often more economical and include a variety of styles, shapes, colors and models.

I very much remember purchasing our son the larger assortment package and adding a specialty Matchbox car as a second gift. This was especially important when other children were at his birthday party. He could feel free to share the assorted package for playtime, but we could hold the specialty car for his own personal playtime or simply for display.
