Legos ~ Toy of the Century
Legos have been around my entire life and are such a great way to encourage creativity and imagination through play. It is no surprise that Legos have been named “Toy of the Century” twice!
Lego Legacy
LEGO Education Brick SetCheck PriceLego’s “father” company was established in 1932 in a village in Denmark and adopted the name LEGO, which in Latin means “I put together”, in 1934. The original “binding brick” or Lego foundation brick, was first manufactured in 1949 and while we have seen a few changes and additions over the years, that “brick” and the company have been going strong ever since.*
Because of their durability, Lego bricks and sets can be passed down for generations. Pretty cool to have your grandfather’s toys and to still be able to play with them!
Legos Today
Today’s generation has a huge selection of Lego sets available, including video games and board games.
Plus, they have a line for just about any age starting with the Duplo sets for toddlers all the way up to the buildings with intricate details like moving steps, or trains with motors so they will actually run after they have been constructed.
Lego Sets For Girls

When I was a child, it seemed like Legos were a boy’s toy, even though there were plenty of girls who enjoyed building the Lego sets. However, it is obvious Legos are no longer designed with just boys in mind.
Today, there is a whole line exclusively created and dedicated to appealing to girls. It includes princess castles and pretty playhouses; pink cars and pink accessorized boats; and lots of female characters.
Lego Sets For Everyone
If you or your child likes castles, animals, robots, cars, trucks, trains, boats, monsters, or if you simply enjoy crafts, you are sure to find a Lego set to love.
Oh, and I am sure you will also enjoy the Lego apparel and accessories.

I didn’t realise Lego had been named toy of the century – but it’s a well deserved title for it. I played with Lego and so did my kids.
It’s a traditional toy which has adapted really well to modern life. Themed sets, like Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones etc., have kept Lego bang up to date – not to mention a host of video games and even Lego based movies.

I have two uncles who get together regularly to work on their LEGO village. They have taken over more than half of the one’s basement. These “boys” have been doing this for more than 20 years and still love it. LEGOs definitely have an appeal that spans generations.

Legos are, indeed, the toy of choice for either gender and any age! And today, you can get Lego sets in Batman, Star Wars and soooo many different themed topics. My kids used them for sure. But, my husband and I enjoyed building with them as much as the kids did! Legos are a toy for the young at heart and creativity!
